Lawyers Rush In Where Scientists Fear To Tread

The dangers of mixing nanotechnology and investors were highlighted by a New York investment firm, Asensio & Company, who have asked the New York attorney general "to investigate Merrill Lynch for including many companies that have little or nothing to do with nanotechnology in an index of 25 publicly traded nanotechnology companies that Merrill introduced on April 1."

While they are at it, maybe they could have a look at… oh never mind.

This does raise an interesting and worrying question – will nanotechnology end up being defined by lawyers?

Certainly our favourite definition, "Controlling physical properties by defining matter with molecular precision” wouldn't pass muster.
