We have been riding the ups and downs of the Field Emission Display (FED) Industry since setting up EuroFE, a network dedicated to filed emission technologies in the late 90’s. Many of those involved in field emission have followed us into nanotech.
Technology Review has a good overview of the FED landscape, although one thing hasn’t changed since the switch from silicon to nanotubes; FEDs “cannot currently be manufactured affordably.”
Now bankrupt companies like Candescent and Pixtech are testament to that.
