The Hay on Wye literature festival has long attracted literary giants from around the world to an otherwise sleepy Welsh town in the Black Mountains. This years festival is no exception, attracting the likes of Goldie Hawn, Elvis Costello, Simon Singh, Bob Geldof and Richard Jones, discussing one of our personal favourites, Soft Machines.
These days it is a toss up whether the bewhiskered anti nanoscience demonstrators will be ecologists or Drexlerites.
Posted by Cientifica at April 26, 2005 03:08 PMWhile the image of me, Bob, Simon, Goldie and Elvis sitting around chatting about nanotechnology is a lovely one, I don't suppose many of them will be up at 10 am for my talk! But I must admit to being immensely thrilled to be appearing on the program with such illustrious names.
As for the anti-nanoscience demonstrators, I might disagree with the positions of the ecologists, but I'm happily sitting down with ETC and Greenpeace to work constructively with them (see http://www.softmachines.org/wordpress/index.php?p=94). I wish I could say the same of the other camp.
